Welcome to the Digital Music Future Weblog, written by Marc Freedman, founder and CEO of RazorPop and consulting analyst for The Diffusion Group. I speak at industry forums like the billboardlinks Digital Entertainment Conference and the Global Entertainment Media Summit.

I look forward to charting the path of digital music. This is an exciting time. Tradtional CD sales have started an inevitable decline. While the music industry would have you believe the culprit is P2P, the truth is that the industry is transforming. Unlike past business cycles, there is no new format to pick up the slack. Digital sales are slowly building. A generation of music lovers have been raised in a technological world with very different expectations about how music is consumed. New technologies assault traditional business models, independents chart their own innovative courses, and the major labels bring up the rear and slowly adapt. Join me for a long spin! I invite your comments, as well as guest articles.
