The Russian government closed the music download site AllofMP3 to mollify the U.S. government and the World Trade Organization (WTO) so that it could become a part of the WTO. At its peak AllofMP3 had six million customers who downloaded songs at rates from ten to twenty cents per song. The service claimed it was legal under Russian law.
Meanwhile MP3sparks based in Moscow, Russia has a service with similar pricing. Prince's planet earth album was $1.89 for 192 kbps files, while Timbaland's Shock Value was $3.06.
