DATZ Music Lounge – The answer!
Posted in Innovation on November 10th, 2008
I've said it before, I'll say it again, digital downloads are too expensive to justify most of the time. $1 a track when I could buy the CD for generally a tad less (occasionally a tad more), and have a physical product, and a higher quality product, and definitely no DRM.
So, here's the answer. Datz.com has the answer; a yearly subscription service, costing £100 currently, for unlimited DRM free MP3 downloads. Unfortunatly it only has 2 of the major labels on board, but it's working on the others. If it doesn't have to raise the cost too much; just wow. This IS the iTunes killer.

No way. Selling music online will eventually stop. We are still in the infancy of “fan driven music distribution.” It will soon mature and selling music online will be redundant.
What will kill all iTunes killers will be fan driven distribution.
Patronage, merchandise and concert tickets will be the way musicians will make money. That is why Karmafan exists – to tick off the patronage box as done.
