"Podcast Primer: An Independent Musician's Quick Reference Guide" is a handy introduction for the Do-It-Yourself musicians. Podcasting involves a host of technologies that need to be synchronized to automatically distribute music to the PC, iPod, or other portable device. The technique may seem hip and cutting edge. But the software and process is basic and can be mastered by most artists and producers.

The pieces include user podcasting software that subscribes to podcast channels and finds, locates, and downloads new music. The musician needs digital software to capture and mix audio segments for the podcast show and generate an RSS file that signals a new file is ready to be downloaded.
