EFF Goes to CES

The EFF blogged from the consumer Electronics Show (CES) to see the state-of-the-art in technology, given Hollywood's ongoing fight against free and fair use of media.
They found lots of streaming devices for the home. But forget about anything more robust or freeing for your DVDs or HD cable. (1, 2)
The key is the analog hole ... until the entertainment cartel closes it. You have to convert music and video files to raw format and then back to digital.
Disney CEO Bob Iger's keynote though showed some appreciation for consumer interests and a hint of change: "The best way to combat piracy is to bring content to market on a well-timed, well-priced basis":
Consumer Electronics Association CEO Gary Shapiro called for copyright law revision to protect consumer rights and innovation.
