The RIAA warpath has spread to the latest mixing medium - videos. Cease and desist letters are now being sent to personal video makers who host creations that use copyrighted music and music videos at YouTube and Google Video. Viral video sites are visited by millions of people every day.

Music videos initially were viewed as purely promotional. But they are increasingly seen as another entertainment product and sold at online stores like iTunes. The unauthorized videos range from MTV music videos recorded by a digital camcorder or taken from Tivo to video mixes that merge the music video with dancers or lip-syncing actors.
