Last.fm Giving Royalties To Unsigned Bands
Music streaming service Last.fm has launched a way for artists unaffiliated with one of the major labels or a collections service to collect royalties for songs played through their service. It is, according to the press release, the same revenue sharing opportunities as artists affiliated with the major players.

While I'm not sure what kind of revenue an artist is going to get through this service, it's always better to get something rather than nothing. It's also great for last.fm users as more artists will upload their music. It's great for last.fm as they'll get more music, more listens, more advertising views, and maybe more clicks.
