Nielsen bought Telephia, a media research company focused on the mobile industry for an undisclosed amount. Telephia serves both mobile data and voice industries, including mobile carriers, computer device and electronics manufacturers, retailers, media companies, and analysts.
The acquisition enables Nielsen to better expand in the fast-growing mobile market, which is increasingly integrated into consumer media and electronics on various platforms, including cars, PCs, TVs, and standalone mobile devices.
Susan D. Whiting, executive vice president at The Nielsen Company said "As media content increasingly moves from television to the personal computer to the 'third screen' of the mobile device, it is essential that we measure all platforms."
