Napster goes DRM free
Filed in archive DRM by Jordan Grodecki on May 20, 2008

In a pleasing move to the digital music world, we have learnt that Napster, probably the second biggest digital music service, has gone completely DRM free by transcoding it's entire library to MP3. This decision is likely to up it's presence in the world, seeing as it now has the all important iPod compatibility done. Of course, the subscription service where you "rent" music will keep it's DRM, there's no way of doing it otherwise, but the 99-cent downloads will now be 100% drm free.
Good work Napster.
