PlayLouder have a good idea; offseting illegaly downloaded music by taking a chunk of an ISPs fee and distributing it to labels in royalities. Unfortunatly there is a big problem with this; there is absolutely no technology which can possibly keep track of all illegal downloads, and identify them well enough so the artist can be defined each and every time.
Good idea PlayLouder, but ThinkHarder next time!

This idea is similar to the UK government’s idea on the secondary ticket market. We sell concert, festival and sports tickets in the secondary market and would be obliged to put a percentage back into Tina Turner, England Rugby or whoever it might be’s pocket when the ticket is sold a second time. The argument against of course is free trade…
