Posted in Companies, Podcasting, Technology on February 15th, 2006

Podcasting isn't just for your mp3 player. Phones now have sufficient storage and intelligence to handle subscribed audio and video content. Motorola and Yahoo! announced a service and software based on the Yahoo! Music Engine that:
* Enables podcasts and files to be simply copied to the cell phone via drag and drop
* Automatically downloads podcasts "over the air" to the phone

More on the Moto-Yahoo relationship from the press release:

Yahoo! and Motorola first announced their wide-ranging relationship in July 2005. The companies are collaborating to provide consumers with easy access to Yahoo!'s core products and services on millions of Motorola mobile devices and broadband-enabled products for the connected home. In January 2006, Yahoo! and Motorola announced they are working to globally launch Yahoo! Ready for Motorola devices to give consumers an easy way to access and use their Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Address Book and Yahoo! Calendar services while on the go.
