Raging toward a Christmas Number 1?
Over here in the UK we have one standard chart for all music types, much unlike the multiple ones you have over there in the US, which leads to strong competition for the number 1 slot each week. For events like Christmas the spot is even more prized, as many singles will be bought as presents and the like. For the past few years it has always been a dead cert that the winner of X-Factor, a TV talent show, would be the number one, but this year we have an unusual challenger; Rage Against the Machine.
RATM disbanded a while back, but there has been a facebook campaign for them to reach the number one slot, and it's currently working, with digital only sales outstripping those of the X-Factor winner Joe by a small margin. Is it going to keep going though? We shall see!
