Apple
by Jordan Grodecki on March 12, 2009

Okay. So this isn't exactly directly digital music related but I need to let this out somewhere. Apple recently released the new, rather good looking model of the shuffle you see above. It's small, portable, and 4gb; perfect for the gym or just a casual player to drag around with you.
Or not. See, apple have decided to go just a little too far with this one, removing all control of skipping tracks from the player itself, and onto a remote built into special headphones. We don't like DRM, so we don't like pointless non standard devices; why could they not have just put a 3.5" port on the remote? No, you are going to have to buy an addaptor if you want to have even REMOTELY good sound quality.
Bad move, Apple.
