Rhapsody not quite DRM free after all...

Filed in archive Commentary by Jordan Grodecki on July 20, 2008

Rhapsody, a service touted as a DRM free digital download service, has not quite lived up to expectations, as it has been discovered that a significant amount of the available music is indeed not in the limitation free MP3 format, but rather the highly restricted RAX format, exclusive to real playerlinks.

They do say they will be transitioning them to MP3 eventually but provide no time frame, which is slightly concerning to say the least.

Unfortunate, seeing as Rhapsody was one of the few true digital music hopefuls!
