RIAA victory...to become a loss?

Filed in archive RIAA, IFPI by Jordan Grodecki on August 06, 2008

I don't know if you all remember, but recently the RIAA actually won one of it's court cases, against Jammie Thomas, giving her a fine for $225,000, just for sharing a couple of songs. However, this case has gone for review, after further consideration of the "making available" argument (making content available in a shared folder makes you liable for those that download it) and it is now looking likely that it is going to be called a mistrial, and the damage fines all overturned.

Interesting stuff indeed, we'll keep you posted!
