Skype Cuts the Cord
Posted in Companies on October 19th, 2006

Skype cuts the cord, or more appropriately the USB cable, with new WiFi phones coming soon. The phones enable wireless use at home, office, or anywhere there is an open access point, such as airports and restaurants. There would no cost to call other Skype wired or wireless users, and a small cost to call regular wired and cellular phones. The WiFi phones will be provided by Belkin, Netgear, Edge-Core, and SMC.
Built-in software will synchronize Skype contacts and let the user see who is available to take calls.
Certain Skype phones already include a media player for playing music. It's won't be long before they include both WiFi and media player.
