Sprint Aims to be First National WISP

Ready to get your digital music and video directly on your iPod? You'll have to wait two years. Sprint will spend up $3 billion to be the first national broadband wireless ISP (WISP) and will use WiMax technology. Rollout is expected for late 2008 with download speeds of 2-4 Mbps. Corporate partners include Intel, Samsung and Motorola, with Qualcomm being the odd man out. Sprint provided no information about anticipated pricing.
