The Recording Academy Calls for a Truce
The Recording Academy, home of the Grammys, has publicly called for a truce between the labels and tech companies, according to Digital Music News.

"We all know that the next five years will set in motion new policies and business models that will guide our industry for decades to come," said Neil Portnow (pictured here), President of The Recording Academy during a "Grammys on the Hill" dinner in Washington, DC. "The technology and music industries can continue the quote-endquote war...or, we can work together toward an environment in which we all can win."

Portnow is playing the role of peacemaker between the major labels and RIAA that sue consumers and independent labels like Nettwerk that protest the lawsuits against fans. The Recording Academy seeks to develop programs that are both pro-copyright and pro-consumer. He announced the creation of a task force to support this goal.
