Whither Mashboxx?
What's up with Mashboxx? The company was the first to announce a legal P2P service two years ago but still has nothing to show for it. There have been rumors of technology and funding problems. Former Napster COO Mike Bebel joined Mashboxx as CEO in 2005 and left for Ruckuslinks less than a year later. No replacement has been announced.

On the other hand the company has a distribution deal with Sony BMG Music Entertainment signed in June 2005 and a new one last month with EMI Music. That is in addition to Warner Music Group, which can be provided by fingerprinting and music distributor partner SNOCAP.
