Chris Anderson at The Long Tail gives another reason for the drop in music industry sales, and it's not P2P. It's The End of the Hit.

New genres like disco and grunge continually revitalize the industry and spike revenues. The last bump came from rap. But what's next?

Anderson's latest nifty chart shows that the drop in hit albums directly correlates with the drop in industry revenues.
